Eames Lounge Chair
The Eames Lounge Chair and ottoman, officially titled Eames Lounge (670) and Ottoman (671), were released in 1956 after years of development by designers Charles and Ray Eames for the Herman Miller furniture company. It was the first chair the Eames’ designed for a high-end market. These furnishings are made of molded plywood and leather. Examples of these furnishings are part of the permanent collection of New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
In addition to the style, the Eames Lounge Chair is very comfortable, a combination not always found in high design. The chair has become iconic with Modern style design although when it was first made Ray Eames remarked in a letter to Charles that the chair looked “comfortable and un-designy”.
Both the chair and ottoman are hand-assembled with great attention paid to the details. Shells are 7-ply veneers. Cushions are individually upholstered and replaceable; back cushions are interchangeable. The back braces and bases—of both the chair and ottoman—are die-cast aluminum. The chair base has a built-in swivel mechanism. Shock mounts are resilient natural rubber. Stainless steel glides are adjustable. The new MCL Leather provides much of the softness and “sink-into-it-iveness” of the original, along with durability and color-fastness. The oiled finishes, while requiring periodic maintenance, produce the rich, lustrous look of the original veneers.
Eco Zonda Bathtub
Designed by Francisco Lupin, the ECO Zonda acts as your typical shower, bathtub and jacuzzi all in one with the pretty neat exception that it actually takes the water that was used during the process of cleaning yourself and recycles it. If you think that’s gross hold on because the ECO Zonda will filter the harmful particles out, giving you back (relatively) clean water, although we’re guessing you may not want to drink it. On top of that the ECO Zonda is equipped with a sensor that will be able to detect where you are standing in the tub, redirecting water to that particular area so as not to cause any unnecessary wastage.
This bathtub is great for those who are environmentally conscious and with its sleek and elegant modern design we’re guessing that it would be an interior designer’s dream to be able to fit this beauty into any bathroom.
Dyson Air Multiplier
On 18 October 2009 James Dyson announced the release of the Dyson Air Multiplier, an electric fan in desktop and floor-standing models, intended to provide smoother airflow and, having no exposed rotating blades, operating in a safer manner than conventional bladed fans.[7] The idea for the Air Multiplier came from Dyson’s Airblade hand dryer. The fluid dynamics engineers working on the design realised that a large amount of air was being retained in the body of the dryer, and decided to explore using it for other purposes.
A Dyson Air Multiplier™ fan works differently than conventional fans. It uses Air Multiplier™ technology to draw in air and amplify it up to 18 times, producing an uninterrupted stream of smooth air. With no blades or grille, a Dyson fan is safe, easy to clean and doesn’t cause unpleasant buffeting.
The Dyson Air Multiplier fan uses a technology that allows the fan to produce air without blades. By removing the blades the Dyson fan not only has a more modern, futuristic look but the fan becomes safe and easy to clean. Another perk to the fan allows you to precisely adjust airflow where as conventional fans have limited power settings. The Dyson table fans pivot on their own centre of gravity; they aren’t top-heavy like some other fans, and stay put without clamping.
